Gravina di Puglia

A truly beautiful short drive from the villa, Gravina di Puglia is one of the region’s most captivating hidden gems — a town where ancient stone, deep ravines, and timeless traditions come together in perfect harmony. Perched dramatically above the gorge that gives the town its name, Gravina’s golden facades glow in the southern sun.

The town’s skyline is crowned by the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, its bell tower rising proudly above the cliffside. Wander through the maze of narrow lanes to discover centuries-old rock churches carved directly into the stone, each echoing with the quiet reverence of history. Gravina is also the birthplace of the “culo culo,” the whimsical clay bird whistle still handcrafted by local artisans — a joyful symbol of spring and renewal that captures the town’s playful spirit. Gravina even had a starring role in No Time to Die, the James Bond film that showcased its stunning stone bridge and cinematic vistas.
